Cedarbrook Students Bake Cookies for the Mercy Missions Mobile Dental Van Patients
Students of Cedarbrook Adventist Christian School were asked to provide refreshments for the staff and patients of the Mercy Missions Mobile Dental Van (a project of Serving Others Worldwide) that made a visit to downtown Port Townsend's waterfront area on Friday, January 27 & Saturday, January 28, 2017. Students set to work baking several dozen oatmeal cookies for the event. Pictures will be available soon.
Mercy Missions focus was to provide free dental services to the residents of Port Townsend's winter shelter, the patrons of the Boiler Room and other homeless and veterans of the local area. The Port Townsend Seventh-day Church was the lead community outreach partner with Mercy Missions Mobile Dental Van and coordinated this event with many local dentists and other community partners.
The winter shelter is operated by the Community Outreach Association Shelter Team (COAST) in the basement of the American Legion building located at 209 Monroe St, in Port Townsend, WA. The Boiler Room is a 501C3 non profit, volunteer operated coffee house and social services hub dedicated to building community by providing a safe space for the growth and improvement of individuals located at 711 Water Street in Port Townsend.
